The Black Robe Regiment instrumental in American independence

The British thought that the new colonies’ clergy was the spearhead that brought America its independence. Men of God with guts and courage who spoke for freedom, even sometimes battled for it, and they were the secret weapon that helped make America great.
As a body of men, the clergy were pre-eminent in their attachment to liberty. The pulpits of the land rang with the notes of freedom.
